About ACIMUN
A Model United Nations conference hosted by the American Collegiate Institute in Izmir, Turkey.
ACIMUN is dedicated to fostering diplomatic skills, critical thinking, and global awareness among high school students. Our conference provides a platform for students to engage in meaningful debates on pressing global issues, develop their public speaking abilities, and collaborate with peers from diverse backgrounds.
Through simulating UN committees and international bodies, participants gain valuable insights into the complexities of international relations and diplomacy.
We have had an active MUN Club since the year 1995 and this will be our 30th year of partaking in the prestigious THIMUN Conference.

Distinguished Directors, Respected Guests, and Esteemed Delegates,
The United Nations was founded seven decades ago, undertaking a challenging and multifaceted task: maintaining global peace and security and encouraging international cooperation among all member states. Although the UN has not swayed from its initial ideology and can be credited with numerous significant successes in maintaining intergovernmental tensions at a certain level, much like a living organism over seventy years, the architecture of global governance has transformed beyond recognition. The United Nations has to adapt to a world of many centers and many actors. Considering this shift in global power structures, we have deemed it appropriate to center the fifth annual session of ACIMUN around “The Polycentric World: Exploring the Role of Non-State Actors...
